Frequently asked questions:
- What should I wear?
Please dress comfortably in leggings or yoga pants - skirts are lovely, but they prevent me from seeing what your legs are doing! :) Also bring a scarf, sash, or shawl to tie around your hips. (Please though - no coin scarves. I love them too, but they make too much noise for me to shout over.)
- What should I wear on my feet?
My preference is bare feet. If you have soft slippers or sandals made for dancing, those are fine. Isotoner satin slippers work well, too - they have a nice soft leathery bottom. Regular street shoes will be too "grippy" on the floor, whereas socks will be too slippy.
- When can I start? Do you run in sessions?
For Intermediate and above, my classes are ongoing, rather than session-based, so you can start anytime. It's a good idea to let me know what night you'd like to come so I can look for you, or contact you if for some reason class is canceled. My Intro to Bellydance class does run as an 8 week session, so students can learn the basics together. See the main class page or the calendar for when the next session is starting. This class is also dependent on sufficient pre-registration.
- How do the 8-class cards work? What if I miss a class?
The punch-style card is good for 8 classes - you can use them at any time rather than bringing cash or a check to pay for class. You don't "lose" one if you have to miss a class.
- How do I find you once I arrive at Fitness First?
Classes are held in the enclosed aerobics room on the main level. You can also ask for me at the front desk.
- Where do I put my things during class?
We usually put them off to the side in the aerobics room. The stairs behind the main desk lead to the lower level, though, which has a women's locker room if you want to change or store your things there.
- Where can I park?
There is a municipal lot behind Fitness First that is free in the evenings - the Russell Commons lot. It's at the corner of Rt 3A and Park Terrace. If you park in the south-most corner it's a short walk to the Fitness First back door. For Saturdays you can pay the parking fee or park on the street nearby.
- Where/when else do you teach classes?
Currently this is the only location I am teaching group classes at. I am also available for private lessons.
