Benan's Drums

I have what I think is a pretty extensive collection of drums. The table below shows pictures of some of my drums, descriptions of them, where I got them, and sound-bytes. Links at the bottom of this page will take you to pages 2 and 3 of my collection.

I found this drum at King Richard's Faire in Carver, MA in 2001 or 2002 from Giving Tree Rhythms. Unfortunately, I can't find their website anymore. They might be out of business. It got a 8 1/2" head, and stands 20 1/4" tall. audio sample coming soon
I found this drum at the Michigan Renaissance Festival in 2001 or 2002. It's a slightly smaller version of the "Alexandria"-style cast-aluminum doumbek. The head is 7 7/8" with a total diameter of 10 1/4". It stands 16 1/2" tall. The original paint job was the doko-style finish. I stripped off the paint and repainted it blue. audio sample
I found these Headliner bongos CD Spins at 58 Winter St. in Boston. audio sample coming soon
I found these ceramic TD Percussion doumbeks in John's Music Seattle, WA, in June of 2001. The smaller drum stands 12 5/8" tall with a head diameter of 8 1/2". The larger drum stands 16" tall with a head diameter of 10 1/4", and the opening at the bottom of the drum is less than 4" across. Being ceramic, these drums are pretty fragile. That's why they only rarely leave my apartment. Otherwise, I'd take the larger one everywhere. sound sample of larger doumbek
Sound sample of smaller doumbek coming soon
I bought this riqq from Cooperman Fife and Drum Company in 2002 for use at The Festival of the Lion in Grafton, MA. Aslahan and I were performing as part of the Blue Moon Gypsy Dance Theater. This riqq is 8 1/2" across and 2 1/2" deep, and the zills have a 2 1/2" diameter. audio sample coming soon
